The sacraments

The foundations of our faith.

The seven sacraments mark the milestones of a Catholic life. We are here to help you and your family prepare for each one.

Sacraments

Baptism

The first sacrament, washing us into the life of Christ and welcoming a new member into the Church family. We baptise infants and adults; speak to us to begin.

Sacraments

Reconciliation

The sacrament of God's mercy, where sins are confessed and forgiven. Confession is heard each week, and by appointment whenever you need it.

Sacraments

First Holy Communion

Children prepare to receive the Eucharist for the first time, usually in Year 3. Our preparation programme runs through the year alongside the parish school.

Sacraments

Confirmation

The sealing of baptism with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Young people and adults are prepared together before the bishop confirms them.

Sacraments

Marriage

Two people are joined before God as a sign of Christ's love for the Church. Please contact the parish at least six months before your intended date.

Sacraments

Holy Orders

Men are ordained as deacons, priests, and bishops to serve the people of God. If you feel called, our clergy will walk with you and point you to the diocese.

Anointing of the Sick

The Church's prayer for healing and strength in serious illness or old age. Call the parish at any time; we will come to a home or hospital.

On the sacraments

The sacraments are the architecture of Catholic life. Moments where grace meets the body.

Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1084

Through Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, Marriage, Holy Orders, and Anointing of the Sick, God's grace is given to us in ways we can see and touch and receive together.

Get in touch to find out more about any of them.
